never ending or beginning, on an ever-spinning reel

I’ve been aching to watch Breakfast On Pluto again for about a week now. Last week I listened to the soundtrack and was becoming ridiculously giddy, even daydreaming about the movie in the car on the way to work. I kept thinking of images and scenes and honestly wondering, “Did I make that up? Is that really in the movie?” Sounds silly I know, but that’s how it was.

So last night I finally got the chance to watch it again for the seventh time. The Seventh Dream of Ms. Kitten Heaven – cut for length, spoilers, and general fangirling.Collapse )

Cillian Murphy owns this movie, despite the masterful hand of Neil Jordan. I can think of no other actor who could have pulled this off, who could have made this character so real. It amazes me that Murphy himself has said he often thinks about Kitten and wonders how she’s doing, like she is a real person. To the non-initiated it may sound crazy, but I feel the same way. I continually feel inspired by Kitten, to try and see the positive in the darkest circumstances. I may not always succeed, but I certainly have changed after seeing this movie and being so deeply affected by this character.

Please, everyone, add your own thoughts!!

Well, now I've learned how to extract video from DVDs and make MP4 files. Awesome.

I made clips of all four deleted scenes from my European Breakfast on Pluto DVD, plus I edited an excerpt of the Making-Of-BoP featurette that's on both versions of the DVD. Then Shannon made a super-lovely new video page for cillianONLINE, so they're ready for viewing! *pats us both on the back*

Oh my god, I am an insomniacal Cillianfan freak. I couldn't wait to tell you all about the deleted scenes on the UK version of the BoP DVD. It is four in the morning... and I only had the sense to give up on finishing all the screencaps in the last hour! omg. I also made a slightly different post over at cillianONLINE.

DVD extra spoilers, including transcribed dialogue & a few caps...Collapse )

the second installment in the breakfast on neptune series centers on laurence kinlan who plays irwin kerr in the film.

laurence has steadily built a long and respectable resume of films since his entrance into the acting world with soft sand, blue sea. he has appeared in a handful of high profile irish stories alongside smaller ones as well as the american action film ned kelly, starring orlando bloom and heath ledger.

notable projects
angela's ashes
an everlasting piece
ned kelly
veronica guerin
johnny was

small engine repair

personal favourite
my absolute favourite credit of his is a small irish film called boy eats girl which is currently working its way about the fantasy/horror festival circuit. the synopsis reads "A boy declares his love for his girlfriend, only to die the same night. He is brought back to life by his mother as a flesh-craving zombie, who sires more teen undead while trying to control his, er, appetite for his beloved." lovely. i can't wait to see it.

I finally saw Breakfast On Pluto last night! It never made it to the theaters here. I never even found it playing anywhere when I was in England! But, I got it from Netflix yesterday.

I. Love. It!! A lot more than I thought I would actually.

So, yeah :D

this is a new feature of our fabulous community called breakfast on neptune. basically, each week (or however often i get around to updating), i'll profile someone involved with the film and what other works of theirs you should watch. the idea is to spotlight the lesser known members of the cast and crew so i'm not going to do a profile on cillian murphy or liam neeson, because their films are fairly well known.

the first profile is of eva birthistle, who played eily bergin:

eva is best known for her work in ken loach's film ae fond kiss... which is about a young pakistani man who falls in love with a young irish woman to objections on both sides. she won awards from the irish film and television association and the london critics circle for this role.

she also has a fantastic supporting role in imagine me & you, which i really recommend you all go out and see because it's hilarious and lovely and also has anthony stewart head from buffy.

look for eva later this year in save angel hope, which also stars billy boyd.

for more information about eva, and to find out about her work on the bbc, visit her bbc profile.

Title: Oh I Knew That, Princess
Author: ima_pseudonym
Pairing: Bertie/Kitten
Rating: PG
Notes: Written at ameyao_roinyi's request for a fluffy KittenFic. ^_^ Um... I have mixed feelings on this. At first I was like... Oh God! It sucks! And then I re-read it... and then I thought... Oh God! They'll think it sucks! And now I'm like... Eh. It could be much worse. And I really felt for Kitten, so I couldn't expect much better. Bertie is just so wonderful. (Except for that whole hypnotize and 'there's your mother' thing. That's sort of cruel.) Posted on request.

Quel horreur!

So my (completely un-BoP affiliated) friend posted a link to a CNN article on her LJ, and I had to share:

Every day, at the end of almost every hour, XM's '60s channel plays the top six hits of a corresponding week from that decade. As an aficionado of the Billboard charts -- I've got a bunch of the Billboard Top 40 and No. 1 books at home -- I knew what was going to be No. 1 when the countdown got to mid-April 1968: "Honey," by Bobby Goldsboro.

The Worst Song of All Time.

The rest of the article is here.

*le sigh* Clearly not written by a Phantom Lady...

Buying Breakfast on Pluto
It was in Music World - on the first shelf I saw, so I grabbed it off and skipped - yes, literally skipped - over to the counter. Guy blinked at me but rang it up and I skipped back to the bus stop.

As for the DVD, the cover is still wince-worthy, but the image on the DVD is nice. Sadly it comes with just the commentary, behind-the-scenes, and previews. And as far as I can tell, no eggs...
Maybe I'll bug Kymmethy to send me the Euro-version, and try and find a second-hand Euro-DVD player...
